[edit] Story
In the second Street Fighter tournament, Ryu, Ken and other world warriors with different skills and fighting styles compete. While some of the competitors have ulterior motives for competing, others have something to prove. Eight world warriors fight to work their way up to battling the tournament's Four Heavenly Kings.
[edit] Gameplay
Street Fighter II': Champion Edition has the same CPS-1 arcade board and gameplay as Street Fighter II with some notable changes. All four boss characters became playable, though they had text only endings when a game is beaten with one of them. In addition, the bosses are selectable on the character select screen. Players could choose the same character to fight against each other, using palette swapping to differentiate the second player. The backgrounds of each player's stage were re-colored (a theme throughout most of the revisions). There were various bug fixes for serious glitches (such as Guile's Handcuffs), as well as some balancing of the characters. The speed, damage, and priority of certain moves have been tweaked. Certain characters were given additional special moves and throws in the Sega Genesis version. Finally, Ryu and Ken's moves have been changed so that they can no longer be exactly the same.
